Recently, K Honey has been looking into bringing something over from the US for the baby along with my mom who will be flying over in the near future. She stumbled upon the Angelcare Deluxe Movement Sensor, the latest in baby monitoring technology.

In the US, here’s what we’ve found:
Amazon: $114.95
Toys R Us: $139.99
Target: $129.99

In Poland, the prices look like this:
Smyk kid’s store: 550 PLN ($240)
online auction site: 439 - 499 PLN ($193 - $220)

I want to point out the the US model is a high and better model than the one available here. There’s quite an import mark up on this, as you can see, ranging from 68-91%. Keep in mind that Americans make 2.6 times more than Poles.¹

Ouch! This rocks the wallet pretty bad. Good thing we got a US connection to bring some of this stuff over at the lower price. But, not everyone else does. A harsh fact of reality is that is poor countries, things are more expensive. They are considered “luxury items”, although I doubt most Americans consider them that way.
