I’m a strong believer in doing things with purpose. Having clear goals has tons of advantages and I believe that goal setting certainly is a “best practice”.

Here are the goals I want to achieve with this blog:

promote “best practices” among parents - My students will often as me how to say something in English giving me two options. Usually both are correct, but usually one is better and in turn, the best. The same is true in many aspects of life and I believe parenting is no exception. Through this blog, I want parents to become more aware of how they do things and continuously reevaluate how they could do them better, ultimately reaching the “best practice”.

add value to my readers’ lives - There’s no point in writing a blog if no one will read it. There’s no point in reading a blog if it doesn’t benefit you. There are millions of blogs in cyberspace, so I hope I can offer my readers something that no one else can. You can say that this blog has three pillars:

to entertain - This is what makes blogging so great! The average citizen can give his own two cents, and make it fun as well. I think a lot of formal media like newspaper, books, etc. are afraid of not sounding professional. No worries here: I am an amateur.
to educate - as the saying goes, “When one person teaches, TWO learn”. I will be very satisfied if my articles provoke people to think about being better parents and what it means. I am sure that by trying to educate others, I will become a better dad myself.
to bring people together -Not only can the average Joe say what he thinks, but the just-as-average Jane and Billy can comment on it as well! Please comment on my blog because I want people to be communicating with one another.

I hope that all my content not only follows these guidelines, but stays at a consistently high quality.

facilitate communication among parents - my aim is to make this blog as interactive as possible. Most articles I write will be designed at stimulating discussion among readers. I may write a thought provoking opinion column and then as you to comment. I may simply put up an open question to you all about a topic I don’t know about. I hope you will take advantage of this blog and participate in the dialog!

In a year from now, I’d like to re-evaluate these goals and see how I’m doing.
